Why are we here?
What is our purpose?
Do we need a purpose?
These questions and many more have been asked since people have been able to think about these things.
The questions all involve humanity’s role in the great scheme called life.
That is us.
It is about me, myself and I and why, what, who, where and when.
What am I to do? How shall I behave? What shall I believe?
Who or what shall I follow? Do I need to follow?
More “me” questions.
Throughout the ages religions and belief systems have been borne and evolved. The bible is a perfect example of evolution of religion, that is why there is a New Testament, making the Old Testament obsolete.
Due to our limited intelligence and the fact there are parameters on our thinking caused by limited awareness and knowledge of so many things, we believe a “Creator” started all of this. After all, we are all created by a mother and father. We assume that also holds true for the very first man and woman, that they were created.
The fact is we do not know. There is a lot we do not know.
It comes back to us. We either believe or we don’t. We develop our characters and continue with life. Many of us try to live a certain way and follow guidelines for behavior set forth eons ago.
We choose to behave a certain way or others force us to behave a certain way if we wish to belong.
In the end it is about our part in this. My part.
It is all about me.

“It is all about me.” Great bait, but I’m not biting. No wait. I guess by replying I just bit.
It’s not about you. It’s not about me. It is all about God. We are made in His image with God’s intention for us to be like Him and shine His love through us that others might find truth.
Sometimes, He is pleased with His creations. Sometimes He is saddened. Sometimes, He is angry and the list goes on. We are designed in His image. It is all about Him.
Hi Archie;
I wasn’t fishing, so it’s not “bait”
Thank you very much for this post Ichabod, it really gives some nice insight into what makes religion such a lasting concept. I’m also writing a philosophical blog and having a hard time getting hits, so please check it out. murev.wordpress.com. Thanks again for the post man.
