It says 'Jesus didn't need a maketing machine' on that poster. The fact that they commonly erect such signs in communities & by roadsides contradicts the argument.. what else is it then if not a 'commercial' for the church (god knows which denomination in this case? ..pardon the intended pun)

And this brings me back to my point that the Vatican knew they needed a white Jesus to pull in the congregations if Jesus was to conquer Europe, cos people need to relate to their hero. The artists of the rennaissance helped spread this image of Jesus as peaceful, tall & white. In those days the world was much less politically correct..

If you ever get to travel to the Levante and check out the 'original' Christian churches, icons and traditions of the orthodox church, the coptics (in Egypt) it's evident that this religion has it's roots firmly in the middle-east and the Vatican has done a crafty job in giving Jesus a makeover to appeal to the masses in Europe and the Americas.

Interestingly the orthodox churchs in Lebanon, Syria, Turkey, Palestine and Egypt have much in common with Islam and Judaism, some muslims pray to Christain saints and attend sermons.

These three great religions are not so different. Accenuating differences leads to alienation and this doesn't help peace and fraternity.

This doesn't mean that any of them are right. If they're all wrong then they're all as wrong as each other. It's always the people behind them who do the damage 'in the name of god'. When we start this little charade, bad happens.
