The article titled A Biology of Mental Disorder was written by Eric Kandel, professor of biochemistry and biophysics at Columbia University, won a Nobel Prize in 2000 for his work on the molecular basis of memory. He is the author of In Search of Memory.

Kandel concludes with “Taken together, these advances could open up new approaches to the treatment of depression, bipolar disorders, and schizophrenia, areas that have been at a pharmacological standstill for decades. Along the way we may also learn something about who we are.”

After reading this article it also serves to explain why certain members of society who have difficulty living within the confines of cultural or society’s framework may be described as “evil” when it may not be due to fault of their own.

For many the placebo of religion or faith and sometimes “exorcism” is used to bring the individual in line with the rest.

The blind leading the blind.
