The salesman’s job was getting to be a drag.  It was no longer fun and exciting as it was years ago.

The customer asked the burned out salesman, “How old are you”.

The salesman replied, “fifty-seven”.

The customer reached inside his desk and pulled out a tape measure.  He pulled out the tape and extended it.

“They say the average man lives till sevent-two or so,” the customer said.

He grasped the tape at fifty seven inches with his thumb and index finger.

“This is where you are in life, what are you going to do now?”

The salesman was shocked at what he saw, most of his life was over and there was precious little left.

He quit his job that day with a smile.
